Fall Lookbook: What We're Wearing This Fall

Fall outfits have a way of starting with the shoes. Maybe it’s the pair of UGGs you keep by the door, your go-to Blundstones, or something sportier for a weekend outside. Once the shoes are picked, the rest usually falls into place.

This time of year is made for getting a little more creative with what you already have in your closet. Bring back the oversized sweaters, layer a jacket over your favorite basics, cuff your jeans to show off a good pair of boots, or add cozy socks to a pair you wore completely differently a few months ago.

This lookbook is all about those easy outfit combinations that feel put together without looking too planned. Here are a few of our go-to shoes for fall and how we’d style them this season:

The Cozy Uniform: UGGs

There’s a reason UGG season gets its own moment every year. As soon as the weather cools down, they somehow end up being the pair by the door.

For an everyday fall look, keep it simple with straight-leg jeans, a fitted tee or tank, and an oversized cardigan. Add your favorite UGGs and suddenly the outfit feels a lot more fall without trying too hard.

For an even cozier day, lean into it with leggings, crew socks, an oversized sweatshirt, and any pair of UGG, such as the Tasman or Ultra Mini. It’s the kind of outfit that works with anything when comfort is the whole point.

How to style it: Straight-leg denim, white tee, oversized cardigan, slouchy tote, and your favorite UGGs.

The vibe: Cozy, casual, easy.

The Fall Classic: Blundstone 1609

Some outfits just look better once a boot is involved. The Blundstone 1609 is the pair we’d reach for when you want something a little more rugged without making your outfit feel outdoorsy. The brown Chelsea boot works especially well with all the colors we naturally start wearing this time of year: denim, cream, olive, chocolate, black, and plaid.

Try them with cuffed jeans, a chunky cream sweater, and an oversized jacket. Or pair them with black leggings, tall socks, and a barn jacket for something a little more relaxed. This is also one of those outfits that gets better once it looks slightly lived in. Nothing needs to match perfectly.

How to style it: Cuffed straight-leg jeans, chunky knit sweater, oversized utility jacket, and a crossbody bag.

The vibe: Classic fall, slightly rugged, ready for anything.

The Outdoorsy One: On Cloudhorizon 2 Mid

Fall is also one of the best excuses to actually get outside. For weekend walks, easy trails, pumpkin patches, apple picking, or those days when your plans involve a lot more walking than expected, we’d build the outfit around the On Cloudhorizon 2 Mid.

Instead of treating it like a strictly hiking shoe, mix it into an everyday sporty fall outfit. Start with relaxed leggings or straight-leg utility pants, add a fitted long sleeve, and throw on a fleece or lightweight puffer. Finish it with a baseball cap and a simple crossbody. It feels practical without looking like you dressed exclusively for the trail.

How to style it: Black leggings or utility pants, fitted long sleeve, oversized fleece, crew socks, and a baseball cap.

The vibe: Sporty, outdoorsy, weekend plans.

The Dressier Boot: Pikolinos San Sebastian W1T-8895C1

For the days when you want your fall outfit to feel a little more dressed up, the Pikolinos San Sebastian in Black is an easy switch from your everyday flat boot. The buckle detail gives it some personality, while the chunky heel and lugged sole keep it grounded enough for everyday wear. It has a slightly dressier feel than a basic Chelsea boot, but it still works with casual fall outfits.

We’d style it with straight-leg or cropped jeans, a fitted knit, and a long coat for an easy day-to-night look. It would also work really well with wide-leg trousers, a sweater dress, or a midi skirt with tights when you want something a little more polished for fall.

How to style it: Dark denim, fitted knit, long coat, structured bag, or a midi skirt with tights.

The vibe: Put together, feminine, a little elevated

The Coffee Run Pair: Birkenstock Amsterdam

Of course not every fall outfit needs a boot. The Birkenstock Amsterdam is for those slower fall days when you want something cozy and uncomplicated. We especially like it with outfits that have a little texture: soft knits, ribbed socks, relaxed denim, corduroy, and oversized layers.

Try it with loose jeans, a striped sweater, and visible crew socks for an easy coffee-run outfit. Or go even more relaxed with wide-leg trousers, a plain tee, and a chunky cardigan. It’s simple, but that’s kind of the point.

How to style it: Relaxed denim, ribbed socks, striped knit, oversized cardigan, and a canvas tote.

The vibe: Coffee run, bookstore afternoon, cozy weekend.

Your Fall Outfit Formula

The easiest fall outfits usually aren’t the complicated ones. Start with a shoe you already want to wear, add your favorite jeans or leggings, layer on a sweater or jacket, and call it a day. A cozy UGG can make the basics feel more seasonal, a Blundstone can toughen up your favorite denim, the Cloudhorizon 2 Mid can take your weekend outfit outside, and the Amsterdam can make even a coffee run feel a little more put together. Fall dressing should feel comfortable, repeatable, and easy enough that you actually want to wear the outfit again. Find your fall pair at Hansen’s and start building the rest of the outfit from there!
